About Us

We're on a mission to break down barriers in tech through language - empowering women to advance their careers in regions and markets yet undiscovered.

Our Mission

Our mission is to break down barriers in tech through language by empowering young women to advance their careers in regions and markets yet undiscovered or overlooked. We believe in the power of community, mentorship, and networking, centering everything we do on helping women in tech advance their careers globally.

Our Story

The Beginning

Solomon Eko, the initiator of German for Girls, was working on a project called WeSeparateWaste between 2015 and 2017 in Nigeria when a group of bright, eager girls discovered he could speak German. They asked him to teach them the language.

Growing Demand

Despite his busy schedule, he dedicated five to six hours a week to teach them, and the program German for Girls was born. After he left Nigeria, demand continued virtually, reaching girls across Africa.

The Aha Moment

The girls asked what they could do next with their new skills. Many were keen to come to Germany for education or career advancement. This highlighted the need for a clear path to apply their skills.

A New Chapter

In 2023, a turning point came when someone reached out with interest in reviving the program. This led to German for Girls in Tech, focusing on young women with tech skills, equipping them with German language and cultural insights to access opportunities in Germany's tech industry.

Our ultimate vision is to grow German for Girls in Tech into a self-sustaining platform - and then return to the original dream: providing German and tech training for girls from low-income households at no cost, connecting them to opportunities globally.

Empowering women in tech to break into the European market by equipping them with the language skills they need to succeed.
